EIDF 2010

It’s interesting to know what I didn't realize until now through a documentary film.
I've been watching the documentaries since Monday night. EIDF, which is documentary film festival hosted by EBS every year.
Here are some of my feelings after I watched these films

Space Tourists

This movie show around us that one life who enjoy the space tour and another life which is forked from the space tour and affected. in certain aspect it looks like some difference between the top-end life that they can make it no matter what they want, even a space tour and another side that they have hardly nothing to do with money under the market economy.
Film shows us the scenes comparing two sides. Space tourist drinks water drops floating in the space station and the rocket debris collectors cook their meal on the ground as if they are on a camping. It seems it didn't make difference to me at all. Two groups of people enjoy their life in their own way.

My Kidnapper

Through this movie, I got a chance to realize more closely that the situation of kidnapped people and their problem that they got through, which is that we can often hear about it from the media. No matter what the director would intend to say, in result it contributed to spreading the issue around the world that the political situation of Columbia and what is ELN. This movie also explains us that kidnapping is right thing for them. I could feel it from the scene when the people who had been kidnapped meet the kidnappers later. I could also realized, even a bit what is ELN and the political situation of Columbia.

In the Name of the Family

This movie is about social problem. It deals with people who have lived in Islam society for long time but now they are living in western society. Especially it deals with the family problem between father and their daughter, the father who emigrated from the Pakistan and daughter who is in the middle of adopting western culture. But the movie don't suggest us the answer.

Feathered Cocaine

This movie reveals the fact that we couldn't realize. It tells us about the history of a black market of falcon and the national connection between the buyer and purchaser; most of purchasers are the rich mid-eastern nations. They believe that it's not able to pay for a falcon itself.

Disco and Atomic War

This movie is most interesting to me I have seen so far.
Movie shows us the ordinary life that had been living under the fighting ideologies in cold war era. It shows us the fighting between people who struggle to touch western culture under the socialism system and the people who try to prevent it from the western TV signal.
Each ideology tries to control the public with their own way even now.

I don't hate Google

http://digg.com/odd_stuff/No_Google_I_didn_t_even_remotely_mean_that_image

Google doesn't direct us to the right place.
Google, it just a search engine. Google just show us what we type without their intention.
I think when google ask, "did you mean:" it's just a manner that helps us not to make a typing mistake.
The reason why we see that result is just because there are more people who want that result.
It just the result that reflects something over half of people want, ourselves.
I don't hate Google giving wrong direction.
It seems it's the google's philosophy.

Travel on the last weekend

Travel on the last weekend

Our family went to my hometown, where my mother and father are living in. We visit there about once a month. it's been 3 weeks since we've gone over there last. We all once had talked about that we will have the time to go out, such as hiking or camping without staying a night out this summer, exactly saying it's like a picnic because we didn't even stay the night out there. I just assumed our family members would agree to do something different than we used to do, like eating a meal and washing dishes and watching TV and a little talking about the things that happened around us and ourselves. I recently have been feeling that it's getting boring, I think we all have been bored of the same routinely gathering, when we visit the hometown.

Anyway we hit the road to the valley called byoungji-bang where is pretty famous for summer vacation place. its name is even on the google map. I think there aren't something special, something that is different than other summer vacation places. But many people come there every summer to enjoy their day trip. When we were getting to near our destination(There are many places to take, but there are good spot where we prefer to go)we could see many people enjoying their summer vacation and many cars, even rent buses parked along the raod. We passed by there with any hesitation because we thought we know a kind of the secret place only for us. When we arrived there where we used to be, some people already took the place where we expected. So we took the other place where is not far away from the spot.

We didn't prepare the any gears for playing in the water so we played piling up stone in the water and boat racing game, my father taught children the way of making a boat made of leaves. Even though we didn't bring that much food we enjoyed tasty food and had a good time with icy water and breeze and the nature.

Pets

I'm not a person who loves a pet so much.
Looking back when i was a kid, our parents always had been having dogs. It seemed that my family was living with dogs all the time. I guess it's because not only loves my parents the dogs, maybe but also needed my parents some animal to eat the leftovers. Anyway at that time, my sister and brother and i had been growing up with dogs.

Now what I'm going to tell you guys is about my daughter and a pet.
My 9 years old daughter likes a pet, more actually she loves playing with a pet. Our family never had a dog or kitten because I've been always against having a pet. The reason why I'm against that is because we can't afford to take care of a pet. There is no one who is taking care of a pet all day long.
But my daughter always wanted to have a pet like dogs or cats. Every time we go to the mart to buy something, we don't have to take care of her, we don't have to keep track of what she is doing because she always sticks to the corner selling the pet fish or she is looking around the cage keeping guest's pet temporarily. Even if we failed to keep track of her, we don’t have to worry about that, most of the time we can find her at that place.

There are some times that my wife and i bought her a pet such as the pet fish and the pet crap because they don’t need us to pay attention to as much as we have to do for a dog or cat.
But she would need a more responsibility for that as much as her interest in a pet. Even though the time when she took the new pet home, she get into taking care of that, sometimes even forgetting to have a meal,  but time goes by she is getting bored of looking after the pet. she is losing interest in that.

About two weeks ago she brought a chick(baby chicken) home. It's still not clear if she bought the chick around the school or someone gave her that chick as she said, but I was concerned about how I would care for it when I first see the chick she brought home. We've never experienced how to care about it. Only things we did were based on some information that we found on the Internet, giving a sliced vegetable and boiled egg to chick, keeping it warm. But my wife and I knew that the chick would die soon. I had been hearing that many times the life of chick that is selling around a school.

We couldn’t find a way to keep it warm when we go out. and ended up the chick died after only 3 days since moving in to our home. My daughter reacted differently than before, In the past when she found dead fish in the fish tank that she had been keeping. Then she dumped a dead fish into the toilet as in the movie “Finding Nemo” and just said “Bye.”
But she reacted differently than before. She cried a lot. And I thought she must feel very sad.

Two days ago my daughter asked me to buy two hamsters for her birthday present and I bought her that.
I believe that she is learning about living thing's life is valuable. And she is learning about taking care of animal.
